B!*ches and Hoes??!!?? WHA????

SO many things to say and no way to cohesively put them all together.  I have been writing here and there but not posting because it's all so much crazy.  This post will probably end up being more of the same.  But here are some random musings from a demented tired mind that had only 3 hours of sleep last night.

I was driving home and heard the song by Dirty Ol Bastard : "I gotch ya money"

Aside from being annoyingly repetitive, it did give me time to reflect on when smacking hoes was considered funny. Or at least entertaining.  But maybe it was never okay but due to my warped up bringing I just thought it was funny.  I remember that it was part of comedy skits and every day vernacular.

As the House of Pain Lyrics say:   "I'll serve your ass like John McEnroe. If your girl steps up, I'm smacking the hoe."   Pure poetry-- no?  ( I gotta admit I do love the song.)

See?  Even white boys think they gotta put the smack down on bitches.

Bitches. Hoes.  See, I'm gonna go with the premise that I am a female and therefore can claim the negative words and use them, thereby robbing of them of the worth as a slur and empowering womankind.

Not buying it? Yeah, I never it bought into that with the whole N***** thing either.

But yet ladies we try to claim those words don't we??

I guess it's worth a try-- I hate this song by the way.  It's freaking annoying and I makes me want to bitch slap her.  Just kidding.   Me for one, I don't really get moved too much by the lyrics of songs.  I might love the beat and like the catchy lyrics but I can't say that any of these songs make me want to go out and slap bitches.  Or proudly proclaim to the world that I am one!  (although I guess there is a time of  the month that I might consider it!)

And where does all this reflection finally end up?  No where really.  I did come up with a few more obscure bitch slapping, hoe references in some of my favorite songs, movies, etc.

So why does it not offend me in certain songs and in others it makes me want to scream "MISOGYNISTIC BASTARD!!??"  I think it's the intention with which I imagine the reference is made.  An should I protect my kids from such references? I don't know.  (Spoiler alert!!  Bad parent confession coming up!!)   I don't always make sure that I turn off the dial when certain songs come on.   Now, if they are really bad, I will, but the mild transgression does slip by.

For the record? I won't let my kids listen to this song:

And why not let kids listen to music on the radio?  Back when I was a kid I never fully understood the actual implications of whores, prostitutes, pimps , etc.   Even though we had two that lived across from us for a while on good old Auburn St. and 70's TV and movies were ripe with the images.   I think kids have the ability to gloss over  those details because they have no mental images for them, no life experience.  So much like an adult joke in a Bugs Bunny cartoon, they don't get it!  But  they still enjoy the art.

So while I may never let the kids listen to some songs, and I may never find a way to tie all the random stuff together in this post, I just want to say I don't get offended when I hear what some consider "offensive" terms.  I am able to discern that it is a way that people make art.  And if I don't like it, well, I can always just turn the mutha off!

And no bitch slapping, blog would be complete without one of my favorites (random, I know but give me a break-- I've been up for forever with no sleep!)
